Walker Chevrolet among dealers who donated to Monroe Carell Jr. Childrens Hospital at Vanderbilt

Walker Chevrolet of Franklin was a group of Chevy dealers who recently donated $25,000 to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt as part of Chevy’s “Equinox for Tots” program. To reach the maximum donation, customers were invited to one of 17 participating dealerships to test drive the new Chevrolet Equinox, where each test drive provided $50 towards the donation to Children’s Hospital and an entry to win a new Equinox.

Megan Nichols, winner of “Equinox for Tots,” was presented with her new Chevrolet Equinox, one of the first off the line from the recently reopened Spring Hill Assembly Plant. The $25,000 donation was presented to Luke Gregory, chief executive officer of Children’s Hospital, at the ceremony on Dec. 4.

“As a nonprofit, teaching and research hospital reliant on charitable contributions, we are very fortunate to have the support of our local Chevy dealerships,” said Gregory. “The funds from Chevy’s ‘Equinox for Tots’ program will help further research that is helping doctors everywhere treat, and ultimately prevent, some of the most devastating childhood diseases, as well as allow Children’s Hospital to continue to treat every child who comes through our doors, regardless of their ability to pay.”

After the presentation, the dealers and Nichols held a drive-off to celebrate the reopening of Spring Hill's assembly plant, which began producing the first Chevrolet Equinox in September 2012. In November 2012, General Motors announced a planned investment of $61 million and 685 jobs for its flexible operation.
