County names new director of animal control
Laura Chavarria has been named director of Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center in Franklin, Tenn. An Ohio native, Chavarria is a graduate of the Ohio State University, where she was a biology and animal science major.
Previously, Chavarria served as a quality assurance officer for East Tennessee Clinical Research, a veterinary pharmaceutical company. In 2009, she joined Lee County Domestic Animal Services in Ft. Myers, Fla. where she served as an animal care specialist, animal control officer and most recently in a supervisory role as office manager. While at Lee County, Chavarria created and implemented a policies and procedures manual for the organization, supervised a staff of 12 and assisted in high-profile field investigations.
As director of Williamson County Animal Control and Adoption Center, Chavarria will oversee all facility and field operations, as well as a staff of 20, including a full-time onsite veterinarian and three animal control officers. “I am looking forward to serving the citizens of Williamson County,” she said. “And I will endeavor to continue to provide high-quality programs and services to our community.”
