Third annual Waltrip Brothers Charity Championship set for October
For the third consecutive year, NASCAR brothers Darrell and Michael Waltrip will host the lively Waltrip Brothers’ Charity Championship in Franklin, on Oct. 24-25. All proceeds will benefit Motor Racing Outreach and Feed The Children. The two-day fundraiser consists of the Oct. 24 Champion’s Dinner at The Factory in Franklin, and the Oct. 25 Waltrip Brothers’ Charity Championship golf tournament at Vanderbilt Legends Club, one of the state’s finest courses, in Franklin.
Multi-award-winning country music singer/songwriter Brad Paisley will perform a short acoustic set at the Champion’s Dinner.
“We want to blow this event out and take it to the next level this year, and the addition of my buddy Brad Paisley is a huge step toward that goal,” Darrell Waltrip said. “He and I had a blast making his ‘Old Alabama’ music video last year, but initially became friends when we met at the Grand Ole Opry a couple of years ago. We were surprised by how much we have in common, including our love of cars and desire to help others, so I couldn’t be happier to have Brad join us this year.”
NASCAR on FOX Pre-Race Show host Chris Myers will emcee the Champion’s Dinner, which includes additional entertainment as well as a silent and live auction featuring autographed items from Paisley, country music legend Charlie Daniels, reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Tony Stewart and many others.
The popular “no mulligan” celebrity golf tournament moves to Vanderbilt Legends Club for the first time this year. The private facility features two championship courses co-designed by Hall of Fame golfer Tom Kite and renowned golf course architect Bob Cupp, as well as a 19-acre, state-of-the-art practice facility.
“The NASCAR community has such a willingness to give and to give back to people in need,” Michael Waltrip stated. “The golf tournament that my brother and I put together every year is such a great way to raise money for some many great charities like Motor Racing Outreach and Feed The Children. I am honored to work a long side my brother and do our part to help.”
A multitude of participation and support options exist this year, including sponsorship opportunities, auction and in-kind donations and celebrity participation.
