Santa Claus is coming to Carnton Plantation Saturday, Dec. 15

The Battle of Franklin Trust has announced Santa Claus is making a stop at Carnton Plantation to visit with kids and read “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” inside the formal parlor of the historic home Saturday, Dec. 15.

Santa will visit with each child and listen to their holiday wish list from 2-4 p.m. with a break at 2:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. for Santa to read “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.”  Parents are welcome to take photos. Parents will also receive 25 percent off anything they purchase in the museum shop that day.

The price for one to three kids is $15 and four or more is $20. Reservations are required and space is limited. For reservations, contact Megan Smith at 615-794-0903 or email megan@battleoffranklintrust.org and indicate your requested time slot of 2-2:45 p.m. or 3-3:45 p.m.

Carnton Plantation, originally owned by John and Carrie McGavock, holds a special place in history as a hospital during the days and weeks that followed the Battle of Franklin on Nov. 30, 1864. Close to 10,000 American soldiers were killed, wounded, captured or counted as missing during the five hour battle. 

Carnton Plantation is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. 

 

The Battle of Franklin Trust is a 501 (c) (3) management corporation acting on behalf of Franklin’s battlefield sites to contribute to a greater understanding and enrich the visitor experience of the Nov. 30, 1864 battle.  It’s organized for the charitable and educational purposes of preserving, restoring, maintaining and interpreting the properties, artifacts and documents related to the battle so as to preserve an important part of the nation’s history.
