City of Franklin Seeks One Citizen to Serve on

the Franklin Historic Zoning Commission


The City of Franklin is seeking to fill one opening on the Franklin Historic Zoning Commission (HZC).  Interested individuals must be willing to serve a five-year term, which includes attending two monthly meetings, plus occasional special-called meetings.  The regular HZC meeting is every second Monday of the month at 5:00 p.m. and the Design Review Committee meeting is every third Monday of the month at 4:00 p.m.  Candidates should reside within the city limits, and residents who live in the Historic Preservation Overlay (HPO) are especially encouraged to apply.  


The HZC is responsible for the preservation and protection of Franklin’s historic resources through identification and designation of historic resources, and maintaining the City’s preservation documents, including the Historic District Design Guidelines.  The HZC is charged with design review of development proposals in the HPO, including new construction, alterations, additions, relocations, and demolition requests.
