The Brentwood City Commission met virtually Tuesday evening to discuss the first reading of a rezoning request of 156 acres at 9828 Split Log Road.
Known as the “Gaw Property,” the proposed rezoning would fall under Brentwood’s Open Space Residential (OSRD) zoning guidelines. The total tract of land is 175 acres.
“The development plan calls for a total of 124 lots; 116 of those lots would be within the OSRD portion of what’s being rezoned with this ordinance,” Brentwood City Manager Kirk Bednar said. “The remaining eight lots would be within the R-2 zoning area and stay R-2 and are not part of this ordinance.”
The potential impact to schools over the next several years would include 60 additional students at Jordan Elementary and 25 each at Sunset Middle and Ravenwood High, according to city staff notes.
Turn lanes are also set to be added if the proposed plan is approved.
All commissioners unanimously approved the rezoning request on first reading.
A community meeting is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 28, beginning at 6 p.m. in Meeting Room A at the John P. Holt Brentwood Library. The Brentwood Planning Commission will review the request and provide its recommendations as part of its Feb. 1 meeting agenda.
The public hearing before the city commission is scheduled for Feb. 8. Second and final reading will be Feb. 22.
