Citizens for Brentwood Green Space hosted its fifth annual “A Walk in the Park” in Marcella Vivrette Smith Park on Sunday, offering the community a variety of family-friendly events, live entertainment and food trucks.

“We appreciate the community coming back to support us every year,” said Gil Hutchinson, president of Citizens for Brentwood Green Space. “It’s always a great event for a great cause.”

New amenities and improvements at Marcella Vivrette Smith Park were the focus of this year’s event.

“It’s a fundraiser to help provide money to the city park system for amenities, and we also helped purchase land in another part of Smith Park,” Hutchinson said.

The adjacent park acreage was purchased by the city five years ago with a $3 million price tag. Citizens for Brentwood Green Space made a commitment to raise 10% of the purchase price.
