Fairview 2020 Calendar

The Fairview scenic 2020 calendars will feature the work of local photographer Wade Hooper.

The Friends of the Fairview Public Library have made it possible to mark the days and events for the upcoming year while also enjoying the beauty and seasons of Bowie Nature Park with Fairview scenic 2020 calendars featuring the work of local photographer Wade Hooper.

When Hooper learned the local Friends group was looking for photos of Fairview for its fundraiser, he stepped up.

“I jumped at the chance to help out,” he said. “While I have been a photographer for a long time, I never really cared about selling my work. I would rather share my photos with people who like them.”

His collection of photos from Bowie Nature Park was a natural fit.

“Bowie Nature Park, having been called the ‘Crown Jewel of Fairview,’ I thought that some of my photos of the park would be a great theme for the 2020 calendar,” Hooper said. “I had the great honor to manage Bowie for 15 years as director of the Fairview Parks Department, so I have a substantial library of photos from which to pick. I tried to use photos that would tell a story of the beauty of the park by showing how it looks month to month during the seasons of the year.”

Hooper’s photographs will be on display in the meeting room at Fairview Public Library from Nov. 25 until Jan. 17.  On Saturday, Dec. 7, there will be a reception to thank him from 1-2 p.m., and the public is encouraged to attend.

This is the second year for this fundraiser. Last year, the group sold out of its calendars featuring local historical photos. The Friends of the Fairview Public Library is grateful to local businesses and sponsors that make this project possible.

Calendars are available at the Fairview Public Library, located at 2240 Fairview Boulevard, and Goin’ Postal, located at 7012 City Center Way. The calendars are $10 each with net proceeds going to the Friends of the Fairview Public Library.
