Brentwood Police Officer Destin Legieza, 30, was killed in a two-car crash on June 18, 2020.

Following the death of a Brentwood police officer Thursday morning, the community has come together to support the officer's family and honor his memory with a GoFundMe page.

Officer Destin Legieza died just before 5 a.m. Thursday in the line of duty when another car crashed into his vehicle. Legieza was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

While the incident is still under investigation, no charges have been filed.

Local donors already raised over $22,500 as of 3:30 p.m. Friday with a goal of reaching $25,000. This money will honor Legieza's service and help support the officer's wife, Heather, and his family as they grieve.

Legieza, a Franklin native and graduate of Franklin High School, had served the Brentwood Police Department since 2015 and lived in Spring Hill. He was 30 years old when he died.
