Pack up your popcorn and picnic blankets — Franklin's Movies in the Park series returns this year after a 2020 hiatus.

Every year, the city of Franklin holds several movie screenings throughout the summer for families to enjoy the warm evenings at Pinkerton Park. While the city put a hold on this tradition last year due to COVID-19, the parks department is back at it with three upcoming movie showings.

"Cars 3" kicked off this year's series in late May, but those who missed it can still catch one of the following films:

• "Frozen 2" on June 18

• "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West" on July 16 — a "throwback" 30-year-old film

• "Hotel Transylvania 3" on Aug. 13

All showings will be at Pinkerton Park at 8 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase.
