Thompson Machinery held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday in partnership with Williamson, Inc. at its new Thompson’s Station location.
The company has been serving all of Middle Tennessee and surrounding areas since 1944. Additionally, they are the exclusive Caterpillar dealer for the area.
Among the elected officials in attendance at the ceremony was Thompson’s Station Mayor Corey Napier, who shared how Thompson Machinery, located off of Columbia Pike, was a welcomed addition to the town.
“People are coming from all over the country,” Napier said. “We continue to grow at hopefully a controlled level that we can manage our growth, but we need partners, both commercial partners and residential. … This is an economic corridor of the future for us.”
The company’s Thompson’s Station location officially opened Oct. 1 with a growing staff of more than 15. The store is geared more towards smaller equipment sales and those in need of rental equipment. Additionally, it has a parts and service department, Thompson Machinery CEO DeWitt Thompson explained.
“We knew immediately we wanted to be a part of the community here,” he said. “We’re happy to help the tax base, but using our equipment to help build the schools, support and power the hospitals and keeping banks powered as well. There’s a lot of things that we do that we feel like we add value to the community we serve.”
The projected long-term growth of Williamson County and other surrounding counties was one of main reasons Thompson Machinery chose to expand to Thompson’s Station.
“We have a very good and loyal team of folks who are committed to the community,” Thompson said. “Anything we can do to help make the community a stronger place is what we’re all about.”
