Ravenwood student to compete in SCORE Challenge
Ravenwood High School Senior Charlene Hong is one of several students from across the state who are vying for SCORE's Students Rise to the Challenge competition. Each student wrote an essay about innovative ways in which teachers are instructing students in the classroom.
Hong was selected as one of five semifinalists for the award. The essays are posted ONLINE and the three essays that receive the most votes on SCORE'S FACEBOOK POLL will be named finalists. From there, the finalists will be interviewed and the SCORE team will select a winner.
The three finalists are expected to attend the SCORE Prize event on Monday, Oct. 8, in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium. The winner will be announced at the event and will be expected to read his or her essay.
Ravenwood High School is also up for an award that night. The school is one of three finalists for the high school division of the SCORE Prize Award, which could net the school $10,000 in prize money if chosen.
