Youth Leadership Brentwood announces new class
Twenty-one youth from seven area high schools have been selected to participate in the Youth Leadership Brentwood Class of 2013. During a five-month period, these student leaders will take an intensive look at the Brentwood community, hone their leadership skills and meet one-on-one with adult community leaders in various business sectors. Class members are:
Ravenwood High School: Sam Biancheri, Abbey Gill, Carter Greene, Deaton Hildabrand, Claire Jeffries, Ellie Marquardt, and Kelly Rains; Brentwood Academy: Will Boling, Lexie Harvey and Alex Yost; Father Ryan High School: Kelly Marie Bradford and Ryan Lackore; Brentwood High School: Elizabeth Calton, Carrie Deese, Sarah Catherine Hurlock and Web Massengale; Franklin Road Academy: Sydney Hall, Allison Hallmark, and Sarah Kromer; Harpth Hall School, Elise LaGrone; and Montgomery Bell Academy: DJ Mott.
The mission of Youth Leadership Brentwood is to provide students a hands-on understanding of many different aspects of Brentwood, including its history and government, while simultaneously fostering their leadership skills. The Class of 2013 program opened in October with a reception and overnight retreat that included a historical tour of Brentwood and team-building exercises. Other themed-program days include Media and Quality of Life Day in November, Business Day in December, and Government Day in January of 2013. The program will conclude with a closing retreat and graduation in February 2013.
The program’s Presenting Sponsor is Brentwood Academy. Other sponsors are Brentwood Noon Rotary; Gullett Sanford Robinson & Martin, PLLC; Reliant Bank; Right at Home In Home Care and Assistance; Leadership Brentwood Alumni Association; and parents of YLB alumni.
