Page High senior raises heart disease awareness
Alex Wallace, right, holds a check from the first RED OUT event at her school. This year's event was aimed at raising money and awareness about heart health among students.
Page High school senior and health advocate Alex Wallace is heading up the 2nd annual RED OUT event for students. This is organized to raise awareness of heart health among students. Activities culminate on Friday, Sept. 20. RED OUT is an American Heart Association program where high schoolers get behind heart health and sell official RED OUT T- shirts to raise funds, and then wear them at pep rallies and sporting events, and they learn about heart health in various ways.
Alex became involved in the Heart Association after her dad passed away of heart disease. She speaks at other schools, appears at events, has lobbied on Capitol Hill to support health initiatives, volunteers for the AHA and is now the organizer of her school’s RED OUT.
