Boiler Room presents ‘Picasso at the Lapin Agile’: Steve Martin’s "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" is playing at the Boiler Room Theatre through July 25.
In this, his first full-length play, Martin uses that creative Imagination for which he is famous on the stage and develops a comic pretext. What if Einstein, who at age 26, published his “Theory of Relativity” in 1905, and Picasso, who’s painting Les Demoiselles d’Avgnon, catapulted him onto the art scene at the age of 25, in 1907, met in a bar when they were still just a physicist and a painter? What if they met before they changed the world with their work?
In this play – they do.
