Evie the Dog

Keep Williamson Beautiful and Williamson Recycles invite families of all ages to the inaugural Children's Eco Expo featuring Evie the Litter Dog hosted at the Williamson County Public Library on Thursday, Sept. 17 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The event is a free night of environmentally-friendly education focusing on keeping children safe.

Evie is an 8-year-old Yellow Labrador Retriever whose name is a bacronym for Every Volunteer Is Essential to keep the Earth beautiful and protect the environment.

Evie became the mascot for the Indiana program, Keep Evansville Beautiful in 2007 after Susan Harp wrote “Retrieving with Evie” which promotes anti-littering.  She has shared her environmental message with over 50,000 children and adults at presentations in Indiana, Tennessee, Florida, and Washington, D.C.

Evie’s program focuses on the 4 R’s by encouraging humans to retrieve litter, reduce their waste, reuse items, and recycle everything they can in order to protect the Earth.

Also featured will be booths on animal safety, park safety, fire safety, weather safety, internet & mall safety and more. To learn more about Evie the Litter Dog, visit www.eviethelitterdog.com.
