Miss Daisy reopens in new location – just in time for Easter

Cool Café and Miss Daisy’s Kitchen, restaurant neighbors and friends, are combining efforts to ride out the COVID-19 storm together to continue providing top quality food to their beloved community.

Effective immediately, Cool Café is closed to abide by government mandates for all restaurants to cease serving in their dining rooms. Chef and owner Tim Ness will continue to cook up his famous meat and three dishes which are now available next door at Miss Daisy’s Kitchen.

Both restaurants are located at the corner of Mack Hatcher and Hillsboro Road in Franklin.

“Certainly, we are focused on surviving this dreadful pandemic, but we both are also determined to support this community that has supported us for years,” said Daisy King, Miss Daisy's owner. “It’s more than just financial survival, it’s about all of us being in this together.”

Ness opened his acclaimed Cool Café 15 years ago as a meat and three, with food made and served daily. A few years ago, he morphed into a fine dining steak house on Friday and Saturday evenings.

He intends to reopen when restrictions are lifted, the virus is at bay and people go back to normal lives.

“Whenever that is,” said Ness. “I plan to be back full force, but for now, I’ll be here in my kitchen cooking up great food that will be available at Daisy’s,” he said.

Miss Daisy’s is a grab-and-go market, a place to pick up fine Southern cuisine to take home and re-heat. A culinary icon for more 40 years, King serves up dishes from her heart, and the 14 cookbooks she has authored.

Her refrigerated shelves are stocked with divine entrees, salads and desserts. Famous for entrees ranging from chicken pot pie to company meat loaf, she is a frequented stop for families looking for homemade food, ready to heat and serve.

Those shelves will now also be packed with Cool Café’s famous fried chicken, fried corn, mashed potatoes, green beans, white beans, catfish and an array of other comfort foods including a perennial favorite, banana pudding. They will bear the Cool Café logo.

“Daisy and I are in the midst of collaborating about all the things each of us will continue to offer. I may also offer hand cut steaks and burgers, ready for the grill,” said Ness, the career restaurateur and caterer.

His offerings, like King’s, will be prepared fresh daily.

Miss Daisy’s and Cool Café’s foods are offered by pick up, curbside and delivery. The delivery radius includes not only Franklin, Brentwood and other Williamson County communities, but also Green Hills and Belle Meade.

Hours at Miss Daisy’s are Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m . to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. From 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday is Happy Hour; buy one entrée and get the second at half price.
