The December Art Scene highlighted many talented artists in downtown Franklin on Friday. Many participants, or business owners, celebrated the Christmas spirit.

For art crawlers, who stopped by the historic Presbyterian Church, artist Kimberly Daniel greeted guests to a variety of Santa Claus portraits.

“It just lets you know it’s Christmas,” Daniel said.

Daniel is an art teacher with 30-years experience, and currently teaches in Dickson County.

“I would like to be an artist one day, that’s what I tell the kids,” Daniel said.

With retirement on the horizon for Daniel, she is looking forward to being able to pursue her art aspirations full time.

“I’ve just had to wait 50 years to do it,” Daniel said.

As retirement looms closer, Daniel loves bringing her ideas to life on canvas. Most recently, she recreated downtown Franklin with a little snow on her canvas. Of course, that was just one of many ideas Daniel shared.

Daniel’s creativity is endless, and she enjoys everything about picking up her paintbrush.

“You’re taking something that’s in a tube of pigments and spreading it around, and before you know it, you’ve made a whole image that just makes you smile,” Daniel said.
