Reward Schools

The Tennessee Department of Education designated WCS as an Exemplary District and announced a record-setting 28 Reward Schools in its annual accountability report released on Aug. 15.

Williamson County Schools is once again proving it is an excellent school district.

The Tennessee Department of Education designated WCS as an Exemplary District and announced a record-setting 28 Reward Schools in its annual accountability report released on Aug. 15.

To earn this honor, the district must score high enough on TNReady tests in grades three-eight and on high school End-of-Course exams.

“Being named an Exemplary District by the state is a testament to the hard work of our school district community,” WCS Superintendent Jason Golden said. “I am so proud of our students, teachers and administrators and thankful for the support of the entire community. Our students successfully demonstrated their knowledge of the core subjects on this assessment snapshot. This is great way to kick off the 2019-20 school year.”

Reward status is the top distinction a school can earn in Tennessee. Achievement, growth, attendance, English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA), graduation rates and Ready Graduate data are all evaluated when designating Reward Schools.

“We look forward to celebrating our Reward Schools during the upcoming school board meeting, and we will continue to work toward success for all students,” Golden said.
