The Williamson Herald and B. Media Communications partnered together to celebrate Black History Month.

Big Shakes Hot Chicken and Fish was the host as local business leaders, advertisers and people featured in a special edition gathered to mingle and enjoy some of Big Shakes’ famous chicken and signature side dishes.

Robert Blair, president of B. Media Communications, called the mixer a huge success.

“It’s great that we are able to partner with the Herald to celebrate black history and recognize some of the local leaders each year,” Blair said.

The Herald has partnered with Blair each of the past four years to produce a special edition to recognize black history in the county as well as honor local leaders. This year’s edition focused on health and wellness.

“We have a lot of history in health care that many people may not know about,” Blair said. “The support for this content continues to grow, and we appreciate the local businesses who support this project. The special edition has grown each year.”

Local business owners Shawn and Robin Davis of Big Shakes Hot Chicken noted the community aspect and appreciated the support they have received from the community.

“We love Franklin and appreciate our customers, and this is a great way to showcase our local business to others,” said Shawn, who is also known as Big Shake.

Williamson Herald publisher Derby Jones also noted the collaborative spirit of the special edition.

“Our staff loves working on this each year” Jones said. “I meet new people every year, and I also learn something new. It’s an important part of the community, and I appreciate the support we have received for this. And this is the best hot chicken around!”
