Bridges Domestic Violence Center hosted its 21st annual Jokers & Jackpots Gala, presented by the Law Office of Casey Ashworth, on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Liberty Hall at the Factory in Franklin.

The theme this year was “Evening of Magic,” and magic was in the air. Attendees were treated to magic acts, a variety of casino games and a silent and live auction.

Lynn Schroeder, development director for Bridges, honored Linda Woodside with the 2019 Legacy Award. Woodside is the mother of Linda Crockett-Jackson and has been instrumental in helping the program. She even gave her daughter a house for Bridges to use.

Woodside’s contributions go above and beyond in assisting women and children to have a safe place to escape domestic violence.

While proceeds are not in yet for the event, Schroeder said it is annually the organization’s largest money maker.

“This is our largest fundraiser for the organization,” she said. “Proceeds from the event go toward the operating budget.”

Bridges Domestic Violence Center is the only domestic violence shelter in Williamson County. The not-for-profit organization is dedicated to assisting victims of physical, mental and sexual abuse.

For those who have experienced domestic violence, or those with children who have witnessed domestic violence, Bridges recognizes the decisions they face are difficult ones. The organization’s role is to provide a safe place to make those decisions and to regain control of their lives.

If you or someone you know needs help, call 615-599-5777. For those in immediate physical danger, call 911, then call the Bridges hotline.
