The eighth-annual Friends of Franklin Parks Raise the Roofs fundraiser is quickly approaching on Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm, and this year’s sold-out event will place the spotlight on past and future projects made possible through community support.

More than 35 key sponsors and 13 local restaurants are joining forces to make it a success. Randy Jones & Associates/Nationwide Insurance returns for the third consecutive year as the presenting sponsor.

Friends of Franklin Parks Executive Director Torrey Barnhill says this year’s event will have some unique touches alongside the traditional elements that attendees love.

“Our event Chairs Ken and Ellie Westman Chin, along with Susan and Brian Smallwood, have truly done an amazing job collaborating and planning,” Barnhill said. “They’ve created vignettes of all the great things happening in our parks to give patrons a clear understanding of what donations go towards, what we’ve accomplished thus far due to their generosity and the amazing projects we’re looking forward to.”

The evening will begin with cocktail hour and the traditional polo match in the Tractor Supply Co. Arena, followed by a buffet-style dinner led by A. Marshall Hospitality eateries Puckett’s Gro. & Restaurant, Puckett’s Boat House and Scout’s Pub, then a silent auction featuring parks-related items. Radio personality Buzz Brainard will serve as emcee, and afterward, the After Party sponsored by Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival will feature the band People on the Porch.

Other participating food purveyors and restaurants include Chuy’s, Circa, Franklin Chop House, Granite City, Herban Market, Juice Bar, Mafiaoza’s, Padrino’s Pops, Taziki’s and Triple Crown Bakery. Lipman is providing beer, wine and cocktails for the event.

Platinum sponsors include Berry Farms, a Boyle Development; Mayor Ken and Linda Moore; the Parker McCoy Cernoch Group at Morgan Stanley; and Tennessee Equine Hospital. Gold sponsors include 906 Studio Architects; Battle Ground Academy; Bell & Associates Construction, Civil Constructors; First Tennessee; Franklin Synergy Bank; Hoar Construction; Jones Bros; KAC Sports & Events; Lee Company; Pfizer; Signature Homes; Stites & Harbison, PLLC; TTL; and Wesley Financial Group, LLC.

Tickets to this year’s event have sold out, and all proceeds benefit the Friends of Franklin Parks and the organization’s efforts to continually enhance and connect the city’s incredible park system.
