Shorter Chapel AME Church, 255 Natchez Street in Franklin, is holding a dedication ceremony May 6 at 11:30 a.m. to unveil its new sign while commemorating its 150th anniversary.  

Speakers will include Franklin Mayor Ken Moore, Bishop Jeffrey Nathaniel Leath 128th Bishop of the AME Church and Rev. Kenneth Hill, Ph.D., Pastor of Shorter Chapel AME Church.

Shorter Chapel AME Church is turning 150 years old this year. The church is one of the oldest African American churches in the state of Tennessee and is listed on the Tennessee and National Historic Registries. Since 1868, Shorter Chapel has served the Franklin, Tennessee community.
