John J. Hollins Jr. was named the 2021 Tennessee Family Lawyer of the Year by the national publication Best Lawyers in America.

Franklin attorney and author John J. Hollins Jr. was recently named the 2021 Tennessee Family Lawyer of the Year by the national publication Best Lawyers in America.

Hollins, a partner with Thompson Burton, PLLC Law Firm, has spent more than three decades as a domestic relations trial attorney practicing primarily in Williamson and Davidson counties.

He was named one of the 10 best family law attorneys in Tennessee in 2020 by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys, as well as a top 100 family law attorney by The Mid-South Super Lawyers. He’s been a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 2011 and served on the board of professional responsibility for six years. 

Hollins published his first book in 2011, “Surviving Divorce: A Lawyer’s Common Sense Guide to What You Should Know Before, During, and After a Divorce.”

A native Nashvillian, Hollins graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy, Auburn University and the University of Tennessee College of Law. He serves as an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Nashville and has participated in mission trips to Jamaica for eight years. He also does volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity.
