County basketball teams show promise after handful of games

Brentwood kicked off the season Tuesday with a game against Beech that ended in a 50-54 loss. This is the first game back for coach Dennis King, who returns from a four-year break with the team.
The first half of the game saw low scoring from the Bruins, followed by 18 points in both the third and fourth periods. Brentwood’s Kyle Teichmann had 16 total points scored. He tied for highest scorer with Beech’s Reece Chamberlain.
Bruin player Kevin Bach had the second highest total of 13, which included four 3-pointers. The team travels to Franklin Co. this weekend to face Lincoln Co. in the Thanksgiving tournament while the Lady Bruins make their way to Columbia.
Victory was in store for the Lady Bruin team their first game back. They defeated Beech 47-38. Allyson Hagood of Beech attained the most points, a total of 15, followed by Brentwood’s Jennifer Maher with 12.

The Cougars have developed a three-game streak of wins as they return to the count this season.
The opener against BGA ended 73-53 for Centennial, which saw junior Drew Kelly and Allante McLemore scoring 22 and 21 points respectively.
Kelly was also the top scorer of the night in the following two games against Hunter’s Lane that ended 74-58 and Monday verses Stratford (86-67). He earned a whopping 30 points and nabbed 15 rebounds against the Warriors and 34 total in the Stratford game.
Centennial will play Friday at home against Livingston Academy, who also won their first three games.
Independence & Fairview
Independence boys’ team won the season opener 71-38 over Fairview. Eagle player Ryan Eilermann led all scorers with 16 total points, while Bobby Bock of Fairview had 11 total to lead his team.
The Eagles countered their 48-64 loss to Maplewood with a victory over FRA that ended 67-58. Zach Jeppeson had 18 total points in the game, which included five 3-point baskets.
Jeppeson was second to all scorers, with FRA’s Josh Pickerel attaining 20.
Indy’s girls’ team also had success in their first three games back, giving them a 3-0 record.
While the Lady Yellow Jackets were defeated 30-56 in the season opener to Indy, they manage to pull a huge 57-23 win Monday verses Nashville Christian.
The big win had both Becky Caldwell and Kayla David leading all scorers at 16 points each. Davis’ total also included four 3-pointers.

The Lady Raptors are 3-1 this season after defeating Spring Hill 56-29 Tuesday.
The game saw consistent double digits from the Lady Raptor offense, which finished each quarter in the lead.
Madelyn Hutson was the lead scorer for Ravenwood with 16 points while teammate Catherine Miller shot 15.
Ravenwood’s boys have played with similar success by also attaining a 3-1 record after a win over Spring Hill (1-1) that ended 54-51.
A weak third quarter for Spring Hill proved the difference for the Raptor win. Michael Becker led Ravenwood and all players with 19 total points.
Ravenwood’s sole loss of the season happened on the road against Page High.
Patriot player Brad Finney sunk a basket late in the fourth quarter to give his team the 46-45 win — Page’s first of the season.
Houston Bagsby led the Patriots with 15 total points while teammates Finney and Matt Hastings each garnered nine.
