Robert Anderson Whitley

Robert Anderson, 90, of Columbia, died Aug. 11, 2009 at Maury Regional Hospital. He was born July 17, 1919 in Columbia to John and Lilly Dale McNeely Whitley.

Mr. Whitley was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and a retired farmer. Preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ruby Lee Whitley, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home; Donald Dark officiated. Interment was in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Roy Jackson Morris Sr.

Roy Jackson Morris Sr., 75, of Spring Hill, died Aug. 11, 2009. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was retired from Kimbro Oil Co.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by parents, Jesse and Eva Jackson Morris and wife, Peggy Morris. He survived by son, Roy J. (Karen) Morris Jr.; brothers, Alfred (Doris) Morris and Charles Elihu Morris; sister, Evelyn Buffington; step grandchildren, Lauren and Payton Qualls, many loving nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside services were conducted Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Matthew Austin Seabolt

Matthew Austin Seabolt, 28 of Franklin, died Aug. 13, 2009.  He was active in many sports.

Mr. Seabolt, a loving husband, father, son and brother and Disciple of Christ, is sururvived by his wife, Dani Seabolt; sons, Aydan Matthew, Ashton Michael and Adler Moses Seabolt, all of Franklin; mother, Toni (Chris) Webb of Stockbridge, Ga.; sister, Stephanie (Justin) Lillard of Lake Park, Ga. and Abbe Ellis of Stockbridge, Ga.; grandparents, G.R. and Sharlene Holton of Dasher, Ga.; father- and mother-in-law, Dan and Sally Norman of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; several nieces, nephews and other family members. 

Funeral services were conducted, Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Fourth Avenue Church of Christ. Graveside services were conducted, Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Dasher Cemetery in Dasher, Ga. Memorials may be made to The Seabolt Children’s Educational Fund, c/o U.S. Bank.

Kirby Neil Burns


Kirby Neil Burns, 54, of Sweetwater died Aug. 12, 2009. Born Sept. 5, 1954 in Williamson County, he was an avid gardener.

Mr. Burns is preceded in death by father, Kirby Howlett Burns and brother, Roy Dale Burns. He is survived by parents, Mildred Harris Burns Mize and Paul Mize of Indianapolis, Ind.; companion, Sharon Bowers of Sweetwater; daughters, Karen Presley of Cookville, Regina Woodruff, of Sweetwater, Carey Burns, of Knoxville; sisters, Darlene Anderson of Lebanon, Ind., Diane Mann of Indianapolis, Ind.; and brother, Charles Wilkerson of Indianapolis, Ind. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Hayley Presley, Justin Presley and Alek Presley.

Graveside services were conducted, Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Garrison Cemetery in Franklin; Pastor Ted Daugherty officiated. Pallbearers were Tim Aughe, Mike Aughe, Tim Burns, Danny Burns, Frank Fox, Gilbert Anglin, Greg Anglin and Robert Burns. Memorial Donations may be made to the Garrison Cemetery Fund.

Timothy Scott Galavin

Timothy Scott Galavin, 40, of Nashville, passed away Aug. 12, 2009 at his home. He was born Dec. 22, 1968 in Williamson County.

Mr. Galavin was preceded in death by his father, Jack Galavin and sister, Tangie Galavin. He is survived by son, Cody Galavin of Hickman County; daughter, Ashleigh Galavin of Hickman County; mother, Carolyn Pewitt of Columbia; brother, William Galavin of Thompson’s Station; sister, Kim Howell of Sugartree; granddaughter, Nevaeha Galavin; and mother of his children, Teresa Newcome Jones.

Funeral services were conducted, Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home; Gary Fewell officiated. Burial was in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Family and friends served as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Scott Galavin Memorial Fund.

Geneva Myrell Mitchell Jump Apple

Geneva Myrell Mitchell Jump Apple, 93, died Aug. 16, 2009. 

She was preceded in death by parents, George and Mary Belle Mitchell; widower of Johnny Jump in 1966; widower of James R. Apple in 1992; sister Georgia D. Petty in 2009; and brother Clifford Forrest Mitchell in 1968.

Mrs. Apple is survived sister, Ida Belle McKenzie of North Carolina; daughter, Bonnie Jump Coplin; son-in-law, Tom Coplin; granddaughter, Kelly Lynn (John) Brownlee; great-grandson, Aaron Brownlee; many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Service will be conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home; Rusty Trotter officiating.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be Steve Petty, Conrad Jones, Phil Perry and Mitchell Petty. 
Honorary pallbearers will be John McKenzie and Clifford Mitchell, Jr. 

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Alive Hospice of Nashville, Inc., 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home.

Josiah David Berger

Josiah David Berger, 18, of Franklin, died Aug. 13, 2009 at Vanderbilt Medical Center after injuries from an automobile accident. He was born Aug. 14, 1990 in Brea, Calif.  He is survived by parents, Pastor Steve and Sarah Berger; brother, Cody Berger; sisters, Heather and Destiny Berger all of Franklin; grandparents, Al and Annie Benton, Bob Berger and Mary and Wayne Rector.

Services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at Grace Chapel, 3279 Southall Road, Franklin. Josiah’s father, Pastor Steve Berger officiated. Memorials may be made to the Josiah Berger Memorial Fund c/o Pinnacle Bank for organ donation or flowers may be sent to Grace Chapel, 3279 Southall Road, Franklin, TN 37064.
