• Teen acts Madison Cain and pureNRG will scoop ice cream for customers at the Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins store, 9100 Carothers Pkwy, Franklin, Thursday, Nov. 5, 4 p.m. as part of the special pre-registration event for the second annual Dunkin' Donuts Family Fun Run & Walk-A-Thon. The 5K race will be held, Saturday, Nov. 7, at Centennial Park, Nashville. Baskin Robbins is hosting the Cones For A Cure initiative through Nov. 7. • “Money-Driven Medicine,” a newly released movie and dinner will be the fare at the Williamson County Democratic Party’s monthly Potluck Dinner, Thursday, Nov. 5 at WCDP headquarters in Franklin. The movie is a documentary which explores the roles of profit-making and Wall Street in the way health care is delivered in the United States. The public is invited to the Potluck Dinner, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at WCDP headquarters, 112 East Fowlkes Street, off Columbia Avenue five blocks south of Five Points. Guests are invited to bring a dish, but it is not necessary. Children are welcome. • The SUVCW Fort Donelson Camp # 62, 10th Tennessee Infantry U.S., SVR, Veterans Day event will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 10:30 a.m., at the George White Cemetery, 6915 Arno-Allisona Road, College Grove. The ceremony will honor the Civil War soldiers of Co. H, 5th TN Cav US. The main ceremony will be at the grave of Capt. William Rickman, Company Commander. A smaller ceremony will then take place three or four miles away at the Hartley Cemetery, 6708 Cross Keys Road, at the graves of Laban Hartley III and William Pyron.

• The Williamson County Youth & Junior Orchestra free concert will be held Sunday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. at the New River Fellowship, 1097 Murfreesboro Road, Franklin.
• The Alternative Gift Market will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the Franklin First United Methodist Church, 143, Fifth Ave. South, Franklin. • Best-selling author Robert Hicks will speak to the Franklin Civil War Round Table, Sunday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m., at the Williamson County Library, 1314 Columbia Ave., Franklin. The event is free. The Franklin Civil War Round Table is an educational program of Franklin’s Charge and meets the second Sunday of each month at the Williamson County Library. • The Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce will host a day-long women's event featuring select speakers, Danielle Miller and Lynette Patterson from the Empowered Women's Network and special guest speakers Dale Smith Thomas, former Mrs. Tennessee, and Sandy Griffin, president of the National Speakers Association of Tennessee, Monday, Nov. 9. • Dr. Mark Green, the flight surgeon for the special operations task force assigned to capture Saddam Hussein will be the guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Nashville Republican Women, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 10:45 a.m., at the Richland Country Club in Brentwood. • The Friends of the Williamson County Public Library will hold their third and final book sale of the year, Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 12-14 at the Main Library, 1314 Columbia Ave., Franklin. The sale opens Thursday, Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. and will continue that day until 7 p.m. Friday hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. On Saturday, all remaining items will be offered at half price until noon. At noon, remaining books can be purchased for $5 a bag full. Book prices are $5 for coffee table books. The original price on some of these books can reach $50 for a single copy. Hardbacks are $3, trade paperbacks $2, pocket paperbacks 50 cents and all video materials (DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes) are $1 each. Some DVD and CD “collections” have been higher priced due to the number of CDs or DVDs included. Children’s books are either 50 cents or $1, depending on size.
