Make-A-Wish Holiday Home Tour brings dreams, children’s wishes to life

Holiday home tours bring out the chance to dream but the Nov. 28-Dec. 6 Make-A-Wish Holiday Home Show at the gated community of Kings’ Chapel in the heart of Arrington will help wishes come true for Middle Tennessee kids when its doors open.

Kings’ Chapel is located off Highway 96 in Williamson County, and the Make-A-Wish Holiday Home Show is one of the first premiere home shows to donate 100 percent of its gate to its benefiting charity. The event has brought together area builders and designers to outfit the five, new homes with the design ideas, color inspiration, new building products and “Dreams Come True” children’s bedrooms, said neighborhood developer and event host John Powell.

“From premiering prism foil and leopard faux treatments to organic draperies, exotic granites, and dry-erase paint, you’ll find inspiration for decorating your own home while helping a worthy cause,” Powell said. “Located off a cul-de-sac, the homes are also dressed for the holidays and each feature an incredible silent auction item like a Jordin Tootoo/J.P. Dumont autographed Predators youth jersey and a Titans’ Keith Bulluck signed bed headboard also benefiting Make-A-Wish.”

The building and design teams have taken actual children’s Make-A-Wish requests and transformed them into “Dreams Come True” children’s bedrooms.

“A Night On The Nashville Predators’ Bench” is a hockey-themed tribute room to Chase Donnell, a brave Murfreesboro boy who lost his battle but continues to be honored by donations to MAW. With bold team colors and fun accessories, the room, by designer Donna Henninger with builder Bob Sloan of Artistic Builders, will have an incredible mural by faux artisan Brooks Tucker and gorgeous furniture by John Richard.

Another feature in Sloan’s 3,700-square-foot, country French-style home is a master bedroom with a double-step trey ceiling and sitting area with a view of the private backyard.

“Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is a little girl’s fantasy room, produced by designer Kristen Finney with Ken Staley of Ashby Communities in his 3,595-square-foot French eclectic-style home. Finney’s design uses Tiffany blue and chocolate accents swirling throughout the imaginative room. Staley’s home will be decorated for the holidays with a 12-foot Christmas tree from Bagbey House in Franklin.

The Tudor revival home constructed by Tennessee Valley Homes’ Jimmy and Chris Franks features more than a Make-A-Wish little girl’s bedroom with dancing girls and royal princesses, designed by McClain Holloway and Michael Pleasant. This home is “green certified,” from low volatile organic chemical paints/glue/sealants to waste recycling and locally generated materials.

Tourgoers will find a second girl’s paradise of diamonds and tiaras created by designer Branan White for builder Kris Blalock of Blalock Homes. His 3,746-square-foot English country home features a vaulted ceiling study with a custom faux-painted desk as the focal piece flanked by a pair of antique French country chairs with antique burlap coffee sacks as upholstery.

Chip Walker’s Arrington Builders has a Titans’ teen room by designer Teena Bivings of Dream Home Design as its Make-A-Wish room. The room has a mural and Titans’ helmet-shaped headboard by dimensional mural artisan Leigh Ann Agee. The creative team is also dressing an adorable nursery in yummy shades of espresso, cream and kiwi green.

“Meet The Designers Night” is being held on Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 4 p.m. until closing where designers from the homes will be on-site to answer decorating questions.  Saturdays, Nov. 28 and Dec. 5, from 2-6 p.m., there will be an Arrington Vineyards wine tasting included in the ticket price. The “After the Show” sale is being held Monday, Dec. 7 where visitors can visit the site for free to purchase home furnishings.

A Silent Auction will be held throughout the nine-day event with the proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish. Items in each of the homes include: A Predators youth jersey autographed by Jordin Tootoo and J.P. Dumont; guitar autographed by country artist Chuck Wicks and Dancing With The Stars alum Julianne Hough; photography package from Frogs and Faerie’s; original oil on canvas “Ballerina,” Mark Carson English; Titans helmet-shaped bed headboard created by mural artisan Leigh Ann Agee and autographed by Keith Bulluck and friends; dimensional artwork by Revival Home Inspiration’s Amber Wallace.

Located minutes from the I-65 Franklin/Murfreesboro Exit and moments away from the I-840 Arrington interchange, the Make-A-Wish Holiday Home Show at Kings’ Chapel will be open daily Nov. 28-Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. with the last ticket sold at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $10 and will be available at the show site with free on-site parking.  Realtors presenting a business card are half price throughout the event.
