What’s in a name – plenty when it comes to Williamson County Schools

Two schools currently under construction in Williamson County can now be known by their names and not their geographic locations. At the meeting held Nov. 16, school board members voted unanimously to name the south elementary school, Allendale Elementary School. Allendale is currently under construction and will serve children in the Augusta Place, Benevento, Glenmont, Crowne Pointe – South, Twin Lakes, Spring Hill Place, Spring Meadows, Wade’s Grove and Wyngate Estates.
The naming committee members for Allendale Elementary School included: County Commissioners Judy Hayes and Clyde Lynch; school board member Janine Moore, area principals Dr. Renee Garriss, Dr. Laura LaChance and Dr. Jonathan Ulrich; Kevin Fortney, Facilities and Construction Director; and Jane Franks, Elementary Director.
The south middle school will now be known as Spring Station Middle School. Spring Station will serve the neighborhoods of Augusta Place, Baker Springs Benevento, Buckner Crossing, Burtonwood, Candlewood, Chapmans Crossing, Cochran Trace, Crowne Pointe South, Dakota Pointe, Glennmont, Haynes Crossing (Split Maury/Williamson), Pipkin Hills, Spring Hill Place, Spring Meadow, Twin Lakes, Wade’s Grove, Walden Creek Apts., (Split Maury/Williamson), Walden Springs (Split Maury/Williamson) and Wyngate Estates.
The naming committee members for Spring Station Middle School included: Hayes, Garriss, Moore, school board member Janice Mills, Hillsboro Middle School principal Paula Pulliam and Middle School Director Jubal Yennie.
The name of a third school, west Franklin elementary school, did not appear on the agenda for this meeting and will be voted on at an upcoming meeting.
