The Tennessee Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services, and the Tennessee Rehabilitation Center in Franklin recently selected Swiftwick International LLC in Brentwood, as “Employer of the Year.” The TRC Franklin also selected Swiftwick employee Salvatore Pellegrino as “Employee of the Year.”
“Trying to make a difference here at home, Swiftwick is dedicated to manufacturing in Tennessee, to providing challenging opportunities for our team, and engineering great products for our customers in the USA,” said Swiftwick CEO Mark Cleveland. The company manufactures athletic and performance socks for all sports and activities.
Pellegrino applied for services at the Division of Rehabilitation Services office in July 2008. Upon completion of the vocational evaluation, it was recommended that he enter the Employee Development program at TRC Franklin. He remained in that program for several months, working in the workshop doing assembly work, while improving his job skills and social skills. He was then referred to a Job Placement Specialist Deborah Amick, who worked with him in the areas of job readiness and job placement. Pellegrino, a Fairview resident, was hired at Swiftwick in May 2009.
Pellegrino works as a warehouse & packaging specialist. Operations Manager Meghan Sisko agrees that Sal (as he is called by friends and co-workers) is a reliable employee and has proven to be a packaging perfectionist.
“Watching Sal’s growth over the past year has been a great experience,” Sisko said. “He has had his ups and downs at work, just as well as do, but I am proud that he has stuck with us, continued to work hard, and become a very important and integral part of our team,” said Sisko.
Sal was grinning from ear to ear during the ceremony and his excitement was obvious. “I love working at Swiftwick and I take pride in the product,” said Sal.
Attending Tuesday’s presentation were Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson and Franklin Mayor John Schroer as well as representatives from TRC and Swiftwick.
The Tennessee Rehabilitation Center (TRC) at Smyrna is a state-operated comprehensive rehabilitation facility and is one of eight such facilities in the nation. Length of programs of service offered at TRC vary depending upon the individual client's interest, abilities, and needs. All program participants must be eligible clients of the Division of Rehabilitation Services
The Franklin TRC office is at 1405-A Brookwood Ave. in Franklin.
