Ten veterans who served in the military from World War II through Operation Iraqi Freedom were among those honored June 27 by the Cumberland Valley Quilters Association through its “Quilts of Valor” program.
Receiving handmade quilts were veterans Kelly Austin, Judi Robbins, Julia Coleman, Dexter Syler, Cora White, Ralph Land, Pamela Hale, Ricky Hale, Estrella Whitehurst, and Julie Cyr.
The presentation was made at the Battle of Franklin Trust Sunset Concert Series at historic Carnton Plantation, which is located in the historic Civil War battlefield area.
The mission of the Quilts of Valor project, which is a national project, is to cover all those service members and veterans touched by war with quilts.
