Pearre Creek Elementary fifth grade classes have been studying the Civil War. Last week they explored Civil War history in their own backyard by going on a field trip to the Carter House, the Carnton Plantation and the Lotz House, located in Franklin. The students learned about the Battle of Franklin and saw first-hand where the action took place. Each child has researched someone from that period and tomorrow they will conclude their study by presenting a “Civil War Living Timeline.” Students will represent their Civil War character by dressing up and reciting facts about the character they have studied. Friends and family are invited to come and hear their stories. Students in other grades will participate in a Civil War scavenger hunt with the costumed fifth graders.
