CHS drafting students win Pumpkin design competition

The seventh annual drafting class pumpkin design competition was held in October.  Williamson County high schools competing this year included Centennial, Independence, Franklin, Ravenwood and Page.

The participating students were all enrolled upper level drafting classes. Students were given one week to design a pumpkin on a software program called Inventor. Students were tasked with creating their own design and then work through how to draw it. In this exercise students learned problem solving, teamwork, peer-to-peer teaching and how to manage deadlines. The designs were then sent to all the county high school drafting classes to allow students in those classes to vote on the designs.

For the second year in a row, Centennial made a clean sweep finishing in first, second and third place.

Hailey Fisher won first place with her pumpkin design titled “Temptation.” Walker Trent scored second place with “SpongeBob Pumpkin” and Third place went to Elissa Heckman with “I Wanna Dress Up Too!”
