The Tennessee Soccer Club 2014 U17 boys team bested tough teams from Memphis, Chattanooga and Murfreesboro to win the Tennessee Soccer
Association Division I state championship last weekend. TSC's win marks the team's fourth-straight state title.
The team rallied back from a contentious match and a 1-1 tie in Friday night's game against the East Ridge Express (Chattanooga) that left TSC without a regular goalie for Saturday's game and needing to win their next game by four goals to advance. A motivated team bested the Murfreesboro Strikers 4-0 Saturday on goals by Carson East, Jimmy Wester, Brad Ross, and Daniel Enciso.
Sunday's game pitted TSC against perennial rivals Lobos Rush (Memphis / Jackson), for a game dominated by strong winds and physical play. TSC defender Austin Petrovich sealed victory with the game's only goal on a free kick from near midfield.
With their state championship win, TSC qualifies to compete for the RegionIII Southern Regional championship as the Tennessee representative. The Southern Regionals 2013 will be held at Edmond Soccer Club Soccer Parkin Edmond, OK June 20-27.
The Tennessee Soccer Club was formed in 2012 by merger of the BrentwoodSoccer Club and the Tennessee Futbol Club. The current Tennessee SoccerClub 2014 team played previously under the Brentwood Soccer Club banner. Members of this under 17 team are high school juniors. The team draws players from across the Middle Tennessee area.
