Local attorney and philanthropist Julian Bibb has spent a lifetime supporting, founding and spearheading numerous nonprofits.  From Leadership Franklin, which he co-founded, to Franklin’s Charge, the Heritage Foundation and many, many more, Bibb’s hard work has profoundly altered the landscape of Williamson County.  It is for this dedication that he is being honored at a Darrell Waltrip Automotive Hometown Hero for the month of November.

“I nominated Julian Bibb for the Hometown Hero Award because he exemplifies leadership in his community”, shared Bibb’s coworker at Stites & Harbison, Stacey Watson.  There is no cause too small or too challenging for Julian, he leads with his heart and uses all of the tools he has at his disposal to strengthen the fabric of the Franklin community. He is a consensus builder, he is empathetic,  and he is always humble.  He is an amazing mentor in serving the community. After God, Julian puts his family -- Jayne, Julian IV, Debra, Julian V, Eliza Vaughn and Dovie, Polly, Chris, Joseph and John – first, and his law practice and love of community a close second.  His work has impacted lives in a direct way and it is a privilege to work alongside him on some of these projects.  I am delighted that he has received this honor and appreciate Darrell Waltrip Automotive for providing an outlet to shine light on Julian Bibb’s  authenticity in serving his community.”

“I have been in love with Franklin since Jayne and I moved here in 1974”, shared Bibb.  “I taught high school at BGA and Jayne was a local banker.  Later I attended Vanderbilt Law School, and at Jayne’s insistence, we made our lives in Franklin.  She made a great decision; we never left Franklin and we have raised our four children here.”

"Julian Bibb combines an incredible love of history and community with the greatest servant heart I have ever seen”, shared Bibb’s longtime friend, Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Cornelia “Connie” Clark.  “Though he never seeks the limelight for himself, he has had a positive, often outcome-changing influence on most of the historic and philanthropic projects which make this county such an incredible place to live. Julian has touched the hearts, and improved the lives, of  many citizens who will never even know his name. I cannot think of a more deserving winner of the Darrell Waltrip Automotive Hero Award."

Bibb’s philanthropic work covers the gamut – from his preservation work and commitment to tell the full story about the battle and the town of Franklin during that time period to his commitment to New Hope Academy a  school dedicated to providing a high quality education with Christianity and racial reconciliation at its base.   He also works to promote land preservation so that our past came be maintained into the future.   These efforts have included his early support of the LandTrust for Tennessee as well as the co-founding of Franklin’s Charge.

“I have had some great mentors in my life.  Charlie Warfield is chief among them.  He taught me the value of serving the community in which you live.  His example has been an invaluable guide.  Franklin is blessed to be a community in which “serving others” is a way of life for so many.  I have worked alongside many real “heroes” who make serving the Franklin community a way of life” said Bibb.

As a part of Bibb’s Hometown Hero award a $500 donation will be made to Franklin’s Charge, a local 501c3 Bibb founded dedicated to preserving America’s threatened Civil War battlefields in Williamson County, TN.
