UPDATE: WC Deputy, other officer released from hospitals Investigation continues in morning crash on I-65

Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Jones is going to be sore for a while, but he is OK, said Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Sharon Puckett, late this afternoon.

Jones and a passenger, an unnamed out-of-state officer were struck in an unmarked vehicle as they conducted a routine traffic stop earlier today on Interstate 65 in the Spring Hill area. A female motorist, overcorrected after swerving to avoid the stopped vehicles and hit the deputy’s vehicle, scraping the passenger side and pinning the driver’s side to the guardrail. Puckett said the deputy’s vehicle is a total loss.

Jones was taken by lifeflight helicopter to Vanderbilt in Nashville. The officer was transported to Williamson Medical Center. Both have been released. The motorist was transported to an area hospital and was not seriously injured.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and as yet, no charges have been filed against the female motorist.
