Single vehicle rollover claims life of Thompsons Station man

First fatality in County in 2013

Chad Scism, 34 of Thompson’s Station, died at the scene of the county’s first fatal accident of 2013.

Franklin Police officers are continuing to investigate a fatal crash in Franklin as traffic investigators interview witnesses and review evidence from the scene. At 3:02 p.m., Jan. 2, officers responded to the off ramp from I-65 N to Cool Springs Boulevard east, Exit 68A, for a single-vehicle rollover crash.

According to Franklin Police Department Public Information Officer Lt. Charles Warner, “The vehicle left the roadway while exiting at the off-ramp from I-65 N to Cool Springs Boulevard east, overturned, and struck a light pole. Witnesses say that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. The driver was wearing his seatbelt, and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash. Our hearts hurt for the victim’s devastated family.”
