Franklin PD nab two DUI suspects

In a period of less than nine hours this past weekend, Franklin Police responded to two DUI crashes and arrested two drivers, one of them for her third DUI.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Jan. 25, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of the Maples Shopping Center on Murfreesboro Road to investigate a hit-and-run crash. Witnesses provided a description of the vehicle and a nearby officer stopped the vehicle, driven by Daniel Alexander, 36 of Franklin. Officers arrested Alexander for DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident. As of Monday night, Alexander remained in the Williamson County Jail on a $2,000 bond. Alexander is due in court on Feb. 7, at 1 p.m.

Later that night, an officer on patrol found an abandoned vehicle on 11th Ave North near W. Main Street that had struck a nearby pole. The driver, 42-year-old Diana Brown of Franklin, returned to the scene while officers were investigating. The officers determined Brown to be impaired and arrested her for DUI – her third offense – leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, violation of the implied consent law, financial responsibility law, resisting arrest, failure to maintain lane of travel, and texting while driving. She is free on an $8,500 bond. Brown is due in court on Feb. 7, at 1 p.m.
