Publisher invites input on ‘Herald’ Mascot Challenge
By Melissa Henson, For the Williamson Herald
The Williamson Herald encourages readers to help determine the newspaper’s new mascot. The Herald has been in search for a mascot since November, when its publisher asked readers to submit artwork depicting what they would like to see become the newspaper’s mascot. The 12 provided are the “best of the best submissions,” according to Derby Jones, publisher.
The artist who contributed the winning mascot will win a $100 Visa gift card from Franklin Synergy Bank. The first runner up will win a $50 gift card to Sperry’s restaurant, and second runner up will receive a $25 gift card to The Bunganut Pig restaurant. Should any of the winners be under 18, the prize will be awarded to his or her parent or guardian.
“We invite readers to help us choose a winner from unique and creative ideas we have selected as finalists,” Jones said.
The publisher said he will use reader input to help winnow the field of finalists to three. Preferences can be emailed to mascot@williamsonherald.com. The field of candidates will also be available for comment on Facebook Saturday, Feb. 16 through early March.
