Franklin PD accepting applications for Citizens’ Police Academy

The Franklin Police Department is accepting applications for the Citizens’ Police Academy. Applicants must live or work in Franklin and have a clean record. This is a chance to ‘ride shotgun’ with the men and women sworn to protect the community. At the end of this eight-week program, participants will have had the opportunity to practice crime scene processing techniques, see demonstrations by specialty units like K9 and SWAT, shoot a real Taser and other police weapons, and gain a better understanding of how and why we do what we do, every day, to keep Franklin safe.
Academy graduates include Franklin City Administrator Eric Stuckey, Mayor Dr. Ken Moore, former mayors, moms, doctors, lawyers and others. Completion of the program leads to other opportunities like becoming a Franklin Police Volunteer or member of our Alumni Association.
For those who have ever wanted a closer look at police work, this is a unique opportunity.
Classes meet from 5:40 to 9 p.m. for eight consecutive Thursdays, beginning April 18.
