Franklin soccer beats nationally-ranked Jenks High School

Franklin High School hosted sixth-ranked Jenks High School from Oklahoma Saturday, defeating them 3-1.

The Rebels’ Alex Zadonyanchuk was able to put one in the net in the first two minutes of the game while Drew Collins scored on an assist from fellow junior Allister Berger shortly after.

Jenks was not going to let two goals go unanswered as Tinashe Chigede was able to put one in on Franklin goalie Parker Lamb - bringing the score at halftime to 2-1.

The second half Franklin's defense - led by Ben Norris, John Fly, Austin Baker, Conner Quiggle, Jimmy Wester and Brad Ross remained strong and did not allow Jenks to score a second goal.

Berger put in goal No. 3 for Franklin with assist from Conner Quiggle.

Franklin went on to beat the Hillsboro High School Burros Monday, defeating the District 11-AAA foe 6-0. This was the Rebels’ fifth win of the season under the leadership of new head coach Michael Burgoyne.

Berger gave the team two goals on the scoreboard while seniors Ryan Finnerty, Jacob Smith, and Luke Rogers scored one each for the Rebels.

Matt Brady, a junior, added one more goal for the team to bring Franklin’s total six. Assists were credited to sophomore Austin Baker, Berger with two, Collins, Smith, and Daniel Enciso.

Franklin goalkeepers Lamb and Alec Oldham defended the goal and held off the Burros for another shutout.
