Indy grad Miller shares Vandy record, for now

Former Independence High School standout Brian Miller has left his mark at the next level, matching Vanderbilt’s single-season save record with No. 11 in the Commodores’ 5-1 win over Georgia April 21.

He now sits along side Ryan Rote’s 2004 season and Navery Moore’s 2011 campaign. Moore is a familiar name around Williamson County, being a Battle Ground Academy graduate.

A 6-foot-4 sophomore who throws from multiple arm angles, Miller has a .72 earned run average on the season in 22 appearances. He also has five wins on the season.

Miller did not get to pitch in Vanderbilt’s following game, a 10-2 win over Louisville on April 23. His next opportunity comes with a three-game series at Hawkins Field against Mississippi State April 26-28.

Vanderbilt has a record of 36-6, 16-2 on the season and is currently ranked fourth in the USA Today Baseball Top 25 Coaches Poll.
