Military members enjoy special night at Franklin Rodeo

Forty members of the 101st Airbrone Division take a night to enjoy the Franklin Rodeo with their families. The Franklin Noon Rotary Club donated tickets, dinner and a luxury ride for the night.

Forty members and families of the 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division in Ft. Campbell, Ky. were invited to spend an evening at the Franklin Rodeo Thursday night.

Reserved seating tickets were donated by the Franklin Noon Rotary Club to P38 Inc., an organization dedicated to supporting servicemen and women from nearby Ft. Campbell.

P38 Inc. delivered the rodeo tickets, dinner and a luxury ride for the evening.

The soldiers and families rode in a luxurious bus provided by Grand Avenue the 90 miles to Franklin. En route, they ate food donated by Jason’s Deli in Cool Springs, and then enjoyed a night at the rodeo.

"It’s important to give military members and their families opportunities like this," said P38 Inc. spokesman Art Helf.

Soldiers not deployed were also on the trip. Four buddies in their early twenties made it a “boys night out trip.” Bobby McCartney, Olla, La., Dwayne Atkinson, Maricopa, Ariz., Kyle Stephan, Madison, Ind., and Cody Balster, Joplin, Mo. enjoyed the night and the rodeo.

Three of the four have been deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan or Germany, and Balster, who is 22, just re-enlisted. “I just re-upped on Monday for three more years. We just like having the support. It means everything.”
