Brentwood boys, Ravenwood girls continue tennis reign

The city of Brentwood is yet again crowned the hotbed of high school tennis in Tennessee as the Brentwood High School boys and Ravenwood High School girls each coasted to Class AAA championships this week at the BlueCross Spring Fling in Murfreesboro.

Brentwood won their second-straight team title, and third championship in four years, with a 4-0 defeat of Knoxville Catholic. Wins in the finals were earned by Maxx Lipman (6-0, 6-0), Michael Arguello (6-2, 6-0), Will Jayne (7-5, 7-5), and Nick Fauchet (7-6 (5), 6-2).

After a four-hour rain delay one day prior, the Bruins defeated Siegel 4-0 with victories by Lipman (6-1, 6-0), Arguello (6-1, 6-0), Fauchet (6-2, 6-1) and Danny Hester (6-1, 6-0).

“I’m just happy they’ve brought me along for the fun,” said first year coach Bill Jayne said at Old Fort Park, site of the tournament. “It’s incredible for the team. Maxx deserves it, Michael deserves it. They’re both seniors and they’ve worked hard for it.”

Ravenwood continued their dominance on the sport with their fourth-consecutive title, defeating Siegel 4-0 Wednesday in the championship round.

Wins for the Lady Raptors came from Katie Fitt (6-2, 6-3), Iris Hao (6-0, 6-0), Vivian Hao (6-1, 6-0), and Kelly Rains (6-1, 6-4).
