Carnton Sunset Concert Series features decades of hits

The Battle of Franklin Trust, which manages The Carter House and Carnton Plantation, has announced the dates and lineup for its 2013 Sunset Concert Series. This annual summer series will feature monthly outdoor concerts from local bands on the lawn of Carnton Plantation. Advance tickets are $10 for people ages 13 and older or $12 at the gate.  Children ages 6 through 12 are $5 each, and children 5 and under are admitted free. Tickets are available at Carnton and The Carter House.

The lineup for the 2013 Sunset Concert Series includes:

  • Sunday, June 30: The One Hitters - featuring one-hit wonders from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s
  • Sunday, July 28: 2Country4Nashville - featuring traditional country music hits made famous by the legends
  • Sunday, Aug. 25: Bad Dog - featuring classic rock from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s
“The sunset series is a really fun way for music lovers of all ages to come and enjoy some of their favorite songs against the backdrop of a historic battlefield,” said Eric A. Jacobson, COO of the Battle of Franklin Trust. “We have everyone from baby boomers who remember the hits on the radio to kids kicking their shoes off and dancing in the grass.”

All concerts are from 6 pm to 8 pm with gates opening at 4:30 pm. Wrist bands will be issued for reentry and parking is free. The summer series is a family friendly event, but pets will not be admitted. Patrons are encouraged to bring lounging items such as lawn chairs or blankets. Guests are more than welcome to bring their own food and drink, but both will also be available for purchase. Ace’s Kettle Corn, Begley’s Dogs and Snow-Ball Heaven will be served on site. No grilling will be allowed by guests. In the event of inclement weather, every effort will be made to reschedule the concert.

The Sunset Concert Series is made possible by sponsorships at two levels. Platinum Album sponsors include BancorpSouth, First Farmers, Music City Tents and Events, SunTrust Bank and Williamson Medical Center. Gold album sponsors are Franklin Synergy Bank, HawsGoodwin Investment Management, Peoples State Bank of Commerce and ProNet Residential Services.

The Carnton Sunset Concert Series is an eco-friendly event, and a banner, “Keep Carnton Green” will be posted as a reminder. Guests will also receive complimentary trash bags, donated by Keep Williamson Beautiful, at the entrance of the event. The Trust asks for guests to collect their trash and take their garbage with them when they leave.
