New Principal named for Poplar Grove Elementary
Franklin Special School District Director of Schools Dr. David Snowden recently announced that Alisha Erickson will be the new principal at Poplar Grove Elementary School. Erickson will leave her post as assistant principal at Moore Elementary to take over the position vacated by Lee Kirkpatrick, who will be serving as the FSSD Student Support Services Supervisor beginning July 1.
“We were fortunate to have several outstanding candidates for the principal position at Poplar Grove Elementary. After hours of interviews and evaluations of candidate qualifications, Alisha Erickson was selected,” Snowden said. Erickson has served the last two years as the assistant principal at Moore Elementary.
Previously, she held several different positions in the Williamson County Schools, including literacy coach/reading specialist, second-grade teacher and kindergarten teacher.
This new role in a new school means Erickson will be leaving a family of learners at Moore Elementary. “While I am excited for the opportunity to be the principal of Poplar Grove Elementary and become a part of such a wonderful learning community, I will deeply miss the staff, students, and community at Moore Elementary,” she said. Moore Elementary Principal Lisa Burgin will interview for the assistant principal position at her school over the next few weeks.
Erickson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Middle Tennessee State University, a master of education degree in curriculum and instruction from Tennessee State University, and a master of education degree in educational leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University.
