Eight Williamson County athletes have been named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All State teams in three different sports.
The Franklin Rebel soccer team led the county, placing three players from the 2013 state championship team on the list. Forward Allister Berger, mid-fielder Ben Norris, and defenseman Brad Ross were named, following Franklin’s best soccer season in over a decade and a half.
Brentwood goalie Matt Churitch was also tabbed for all state honors after leading the Bruins through the District 11-AAA season.
Summit got the first all state performance of the school’s history from infielder Dale Burdick, who tabbed for the Class AA team. Bryan Reynolds of Brentwood was the county’s sole honoree in the Class AAA.
In softball, Franklin sophomore Libby Sugg was named to the Class AAA All State Team, as was Ravenwood’s Haley Barnette.
Sugg was the District 11-AAA Most Valuable Player as a freshman and led the Lady Rebels to the Region 6-AAA tourney this season from her catchers position. It was the first time in over two decades that the Franklin softball team posted more than 20 wins.
Barnette, and outfielder, quietly out shadowed a close group of Lady Raptors with a voracious appetite for winning. With her teammates, Barnett pushed Ravenwood to their sixth straight District 11-AAA and fifth straight Region 6-AAA championships.
