Sen. Corker to speak at Noon Rotary Club on Thursday
U.S. Sen. Bob Corker will speak to members of Franklin’s Noon Rotary Club Thursday during a series of events the Chattanooga Republican has scheduled in Middle Tennessee this week
The speech will outline his legislation to strengthen America’s housing finance system by replacing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac with a privately capitalized system that preserves the availability of desirable mortgage products to creditworthy borrowers and fully protects taxpayers from future economic downturns, according to Press Secretary Jamie Corley. The proposed legislation is entitled the Housing Finance Reform and Taxpayers Protection Act (S.1217).
Corker, serving his second term in the U.S. Senate, is ranking member of the foreign relations committee and an active member of the banking committee. He was a successful businessman before serving as Tennessee’s commissioner of finance and as mayor of Chattanooga.
