Team is in PA but families may not be able to follow

The South Nashville Little League team arrived in Williamsport, PA Saturday after winning the Southeast Regional Championship in Warner Robbins, GA without ever setting foot back in Williamson County.

While the players are sharing the once in a life time experience, their parents may miss it all.  After eight days in the state tournament in Winchester, TN then 10 days in Georgia, the prospect of another 14-15 days in Williamsport is a budget buster.  Stevens says the local organization is trying to help.

“We are trying hard to raise some funds for parents to make the trip, to at least help with the $250 a night the hotel rooms are running.  We are looking for corporate sponsors, individuals, anything to help,” says Randy Stevens, South Nashville Little League President and a teacher and coach at Franklin’s Freedom Intermediate School.

Links are available at the league’s website (www.southnashvillelittleleague.com) that allow for corporate and individual sponsorships.  Tee shirts celebrating the team’s state and regional championships are also available through the site.

South Nashville opens play Thursday night at 6 p.m. against the Northeast Regional champions.  The game will be carried live on ESPN2, but a watch party is set for the Cross Corner Grille in Brentwood, with a portion of the proceeds going towards the parent’s travel fund.
