Franktown throws block party to help children of Franklin

Troyce Griffin, program participant, and Program Director Rob Johnson ate good food and listened to the featured band, “The Katinas” at the Franktown Block Party.

Last night Franktown Open Hearts, held their fifth annual Block Party fundraiser for the organization in Liberty Hall at the Factory at Franklin.

Franktown volunteers Beyoncé Christian (left), Niyah Starnes and Ayanna Harris greet attendees at the block party.
A crowd of about a hundred gathered to donate and show their support for Franktown, an organization whose mission is to “bring spiritual and physical hope to Williamson County’s inner city youth by ‘being Jesus’ in their lives and teaching them critical life skills.”

The program strives to assist at-risk children in the community through after school programs, supports and activities.
Young Franklin resident Troyce Griffin told the audience how much Franktown had touched his life.

“I appreciate the emotional support of the organization. My life hasn’t been perfect. It’s been filed with disaster and tragedy … but it shows that if you give it to God, he takes care of things,” Griffin said.

“If you feel something in your heart, you can go get it.

“Franktown is an awesome, fun and efficient program. I come every night to do activities and mentor.”
A group hangs out at the block party.
Executive Director Jimmie Handley encouraged the crowd to get involved in children’s lives. “Let’s break strongholds, curses and family cycles today,” he said.
